Hackers infiltrated the computers of a state-licensed provider of services to developmentally disabled individuals. The information stolen included Social Security numbers and medical information for approximately 9,700 clients. The non-profit learned of breach in late October 2013. The U.S Justice Department asked the non-profit organization to delay notification of the breach to allow for a federal investigation. The investigation did lead to the alleged hacker and their equipment and accounts have been seized."Service Coordination is one of five private organizations licensed by the state's Developmental Disabilities Administration, an agency of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene."
